Preparing Yourself for Winter Weather in Mid-Michigan
Tire Considerations – One of the most important elements to ensuring a confident drive all around mid-Michigan during winter is your tires. If they are not suitable for handling deep snow, you will find that you are unable to get the appropriate grip you need to safely navigate your surroundings. Thelen Mazda will be more than happy to evaluate the state of your tires to determine if they are ready for snow at our Service Center. If your current set is not capable of handling the conditions due to a lack of tread or age, we will provide you with options that meet your needs. A consideration we like to offer is a set of special winter tires. These have deeper treads and a unique tread pattern that will displace more snow from under the tires for better overall grip.
Items to Keep in Your Vehicle – Being prepared for any eventuality will make navigating mid-Michigan during winter much easier for you and your family. This includes keeping a selection of emergency items in your vehicle if you find yourself stranded because of blizzard conditions. Extra clothing like socks and gloves, along with a blanket or two will keep occupants of the vehicle warm while waiting for conditions to improve. Additionally, having non-perishable snacks and bottles of water will keep everyone in the vehicle well-nourished. Carrying an extra smartphone charger is advised so that you can keep your device topped off so that you can contact emergency personnel if needed.
