2016 Mazda Miata Sport

When you’re in the market for a used vehicle, whether you’re purchasing from a private party or through a dealership, there is one area of the vehicle you should always get as much information about as possible – under the hood!  Information about the engine and all the components associated with it, is important for your peace of mind.  This can be accomplished through carefully detailed reports on the previous maintenance schedule or from an expert mechanic looking.  It’s important to know if a vehicle has been kept up-to-date with its oil changes.  Depending on the manufacturer recommendations, oil changes should be done between 3,750 miles – 10,000 miles.  If a vehicle is driven too far over its recommended oil change, there could be damage to the engine.

Another part under the hood that should be inspected is the timing belt because it is a vital part of the engine.  If you can find records on if the timing belt was ever replaced, that’s even better!  You should also see if there are any leaks or worn hoses that are noticeable.  When you’re checking under the hood of a used vehicle, it’s also good to utilize your nose as well.  If you smell burnt oil or antifreeze, there could be leaks or larger issues!

Here at Thelen Mazda in Bay City, Michigan we not only offer some wonderful options for used Mazda vehicles, but we can promise you that each and every one has been carefully inspected.  We want you and your family to drive off the lot in a vehicle that is safe for the road, and carefully inspecting helps to catch any issues there may be before it is available to purchase.  If you want to check out any parts of these vehicles before driving off the lot, we completely encourage it!  So, stop in today to check out our inventory and take a test drive of your favorite gently pre-owned vehicle!
