Going into the newest model year of the beloved sedan and hatchback, the 2023 Mazda3 sees some significant changes. For example, the new standard engine in the 2023 model year is the previous upgraded 2.5L option in the 2022 version. The engine has also been upgraded with cylinder deactivation for improved fuel efficiency. Various trims also get further improvements in their newest iterations.  
 
Performance 

The 2.0L engine that was the standard option in the 2022 model year of the Mazda3 is gone. Now, the 2.5L four-cylinder engine that was previously an upgrade to the 2.0L engine is what propels the baseline sedan and hatchback. This means that drivers get to enjoy 191 horsepower for a scintillating ride all over mid-Michigan. A turbocharged version of the 2.5L engine remains available as well on select trims for 250 horsepower of pure performance. The Mazda3 remains equipped with standard FWD handling, but can also have AWD installed on select trims. New for 2023 is AWD availability on the mid-tier Carbon Edition trim.  

Interior Features 

Inside the family of 2023 Mazda3 sedans and hatchbacks, things have remained relatively unchanged. However, this doesn't mean there haven't been some improvements. For example, now every version of the Mazda3 comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto installed for convenient smartphone connectivity options. This goes along with the high-end luxury components that have been directly brought over from the 2022 iteration of the sedan and hatchback series. As such, this makes the Mazda3 a continued top option for discerning mid-Michigan families.  

Safety Features 

No changes have been made from the 2022 version of the Mazda3 to the 2023 model year of the sedan and hatchback. However, this also means that the vehicle remains equipped with an extensive array of features. These include Automatic Emergency Braking with added Pedestrian Detection for reliable coverage of the road in front of the vehicle. Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Warning also return for another year of keeping the vehicle in its intended spot on the street.
