2021 Mazda CX-9 vs 2021 Chevrolet Traverse

Sophistication is a trademark of every Mazda vehicle. Stepping behind the wheel of the 2021 Mazda CX-9, drivers are introduced to an elegant SUV that is as enjoyable to drive as it is versatile. For the passengers of the SUV, the Mazda provides them not only premium comfort but plenty of infotainment options that enhance any ride. The CX-9 is the complete package for mid-Michigan drivers who are looking for superior quality and reliability from their daily adventures. Compared to a similar SUV like the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse, the CX-9 highlights its more sophisticated atmosphere.

Performance

The 2021 Mazda CX-9 is equipped with a 2.5L SKYACTIV®-G Dynamic Pressure Turbo engine. Generating 227 horsepower and combined with the SKYACTIV®-Drive six-speed automatic transmission, the CX-9 offers its operator top-notch precision with its acceleration and gear shifting providing everyone in the SUV a smooth ride. All models except for the deluxe Signature Edition are FWD with the option of having i-ACTIV AWD® installed. The Signature trim has the AWD system as the standard drivetrain. The 2021 Traverse comes equipped with a 3.6L engine that delivers 310 horsepower and has a nine-speed automatic transmission. Like the CX-9, the Chevy is FWD standard with AWD as an option. With an EPA-estimated 22 MPG city/28 MPG highway fuel economy, the CX-9 beats out the efficiency of the Traverse and its 18 MPG city/27 MPG highway estimates.

Interior Features

The 2021 CX-9 has a selection of standard features inside the cabin that are not standard on the 2021 Traverse. For example, the front seating in the Mazda has three levels of heated functionality for premium comfort. Heated front seating in the Traverse is only available on select trims of the SUV. The tri-zone climate control system equipped with the CX-9 has an accompanying pollen filter to keep the air quality of the cabin exceptional. As for the infotainment options available at the base level, the Mazda comes with HD Radio which is not on the Traverse and its standard list of infotainment applications. The size of the touchscreen is much larger on the Mazda as well. Sporting a 10.25-inch screen, the Mazda gives the driver much more clarity compared to the Traverse and its base seven-inch screen.

Safety Features

Fitted with an extensive selection of standard driver-assistance technology that the 2021 Traverse lacks, the 2021 Mazda CX-9 gives its driver a more confident peace of mind when cruising around town or on the highway. Features, including Automated Emergency Braking that has Pedestrian Detection, give the CX-9 extra protection in front of the SUV. Helping drivers with the rear of the vehicle, the CX-9 also comes standard with both Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assist technology. Adaptive Cruise Control gives the driver of the Mazda a pleasant time on the highway when combined with proper driving practices.
