2021/2022 Mazda CX-9 Comparison in Bay City, MI

2022 Mazda CX-9 Crossover at Thelen Mazda in Bay City, MI

2022 Mazda CX-9 vs. 2021 Mazda CX-9

Mazda's sporty crossover SUV comes back for another round of providing sensational driving memories with the 2022 Mazda CX-9. Compared to the 2021 version of the vehicle, the 2022 model year remains largely unchanged. However, there is a new trim level available for customers looking at the 2022 CX-9. The Touring Plus trim slots in-between the Touring and Carbon Edition and gives customers all of the excellent features in the Touring trim and then even more. AWD is also now the standard drivetrain for every Mazda CX-9 in the 2022 model year.

Performance Differences

Carried over directly from the 2021 version of the crossover SUV, the 2.5L SKYACTIV®-G four-cylinder engine delivers responsive and exhilarating acceleration that everyone in the 2022 CX-9 will adore. Sporting 227 horsepower and being accompanied by the seamless SKYACTIV®-Drive automatic six-speed transmission, the CX-9 has a pleasant ride that still brings thrills to the driver. Unlike the 2021 model year of the vehicle, every 2022 CX-9 comes standard with the excellent i-ACTIV® AWD system to promote confidence as the driver navigates mid-Michigan roads even during weather conditions such as rain or snow.

Exterior & Interior Differences

With the introduction of the Touring Plus trim level for the 2022 Mazda CX-9, customers can get all of the premium content from the Touring trim along with additional features that are found in select upper-level trims. When gazing at a 2022 CX-9 Touring Plus, onlookers will adore the magnificent 20-inch wheels and front grille that are both painted in a striking black coloration. The roof rails are also made of durable and beautiful aluminum for both functionality and visual appeal. Inside, the front seats of the Touring Plus trim gain ventilation to go along with the heated functionality present in the Touring trim level. Otherwise, every other trim level sees the same loaded interior that they came with in the 2021 model year.

Safety Differences

Mazda has kept the deluxe array of safety and driver-assistance technology that was present in the 2021 model year of the CX-9 around for the 2022 version of the crossover SUV. This means drivers can be confident cruising around mid-Michigan with features such as Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert on every model of the CX-9. Additionally, standard Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go makes highway driving much more enjoyable for the driver. With the introduction of standard AWD on every 2022 CX-9, having the ability to comfortably handle winter weather driving in Michigan is a noteworthy addition to the 2021 version of the vehicle.
