Both the 2020 and 2021 Mazda6 sedans share the same two engine choices for drivers to appreciate. The engines are both 2.5L turbocharged four-cylinder varieties which deliver both top-tier performance and efficiency. The standard four-cylinder engine found under the hood of base trims generates 187 horsepower for satisfying acceleration in the city and on the highway. Customers can also choose a trim level of the Mazda6 whose engine unleashes 250 horsepower for a sensational driving experience. The only difference between the two model years is that the more powerful engine in the 2021 version can gain 10 lb.-ft of torque over the 2020 version when using Premium fuel.

Exterior & Interior Features

The 2021 Mazda6 gains a new version of the sedan which further stylizes its stunning exterior in the Carbon Edition. Taking everything loaded in the Grand Touring Reserve trim and giving it a gorgeous new Polymetal Gray paint scheme, the Carbon Edition is perfect for drivers looking to make a statement on the road. The sharp paint scheme compliments nicely with the black accents on the exterior and new 19-inch wheels. Outside of the new Carbon Edition trim, the base Mazda 6 gains both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality for the 2021 model year. Some 2021 models offer additional wireless CarPlay.

Safety Features

Not much has been added to the 2021 Mazda6 sedan when compared to the solid safety package of its 2020 counterpart. One of the new innovative features on the deluxe Signature trim gives drivers a rear Automated Emergency Braking System to help keep them from a potential collision. However, the Driver Attention Monitoring system that the Signature trim also gains is a revolutionary piece of technology. The Mazda 6 will continually evaluate the driver’s current condition while behind the wheel and alert them when dangerous signs of attention loss are detected.
